On this vacation you will be discovering the ancient heart of Tuscany, with its stunning countryside and its many medieval villages. A land still in touch with its heritage and traditions and a population in love with the old flavors that these mineral rich soils have been providing for centuries. All this combined with a happy dose of Tuscan sunshine, provide for a relaxing and enthralling 5 days filled with great food, wine and many sights.
The Itinerary may change a little according to availability but will maintain the same general imprint.
This tour will start with a minimum of 2 participants and needs to be booked 1 month in advance, we will contact you in case of modifications required due to availability and/or location/type of accommodation.
DAY 1 - Chianti and San Gimignano
Pick up from Florence, In the morning visit the famous wine area of the Chianti Classico. Walk the cobblestone roads of medieval villages. Visit the famous square of artisans in Greve in Chianti, then continue on to a balsamic vinegar farm for a tour of the villa and the cellars. Enjoy your first traditional Tuscan meal and wine tasting on local farm. In the afternoon we make our way to San Gimignano, stopping at another wine cellar to meet the producer, tour the cellars and learn about the makings the Chianti wines. Arrive in San Gimignano in the afternoon and check into hotel.
DAY 2 - Volterra and Val d’Elsa
Our day will start around 9.30am from San Gimignano we will make our way to the medieval hill town of Certaldo and enjoy a cooking class off a local housewife and then sit down for the meal which you cooked for yourselves.
In the afternoon we visit the beautiful and ancient hill town of the Etruscans, Volterra. see the amazing town and the ancient Roman and Etruscan monuments then learn about (and watch) the artisans work the semiprecious alabaster stone in their workshops. Back to San Gimignano in time for dinner

DAY 3 - Siena
Pick up from hotel in San Gimignano, stop for a visit of the fortress of Monteriggioni on our way to Siena. Guided tour of the town with its spectacular shell shaped Piazza del Campo. A stop in front of the facade of the Cathedral to admire it in all its splendor before continuing our exploration favoring the more unknown corners of the city. We will immerse ourselves into the “contrade”, the medieval neighborhoods that break up the city and that provide fertile ground for the competitive horse race of the Palio. During the tour you will get an opportunity to taste the local products.
DAY 4 - Pienza and Montalcino
Drive through the picturesque Crete Senesi area towards Pienza. Stop in a sleepy non touristy little village for a walk on the way to an organic dairy farm which produces great pecorino cheeses as well as goat’s cheese. Here we sit down for a full traditional Tuscan lunch on a stunning terrace overlooking the Val d’Orcia valley, a UNESCO world heritage site. After lunch we make our way to the famous wine area of Montalcino where the superb Brunello di Montalcino wine is produced. Climb to the top of the high hill on which the town of Montalcino is perched and enjoy a walk around town before visiting a Brunello producing winery for a tour of the cellars followed by wine tasting.
DAY 5 – Back to Florence
Transfer back to Florence in time for lunch.
